This mare is so laid back I wondered how attentive and protective she would be but so far she is an excellent mother! The little one sleeps all the time like little ones do and if he's more than about 20 feet from her food pile she'll stand over him and wait for him to wake up before herding him off to get water then go back to the food pile so she can eat while he snoozes.
